The Department of Modern and Classical Languages recognizes that an active command of the language and a thorough exploration of the culture form an essential basis for further study in its curriculum. To this end, the department maintains a state-of-the-art multimedia Language Acquisition and Resource Center (LARC) and sponsors several study-abroad programs.The department is also a testing center for diplomas certifying proficiency in business language and procedures. These diplomas are granted by chambers of commerce in various countries.   

Languages offered

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages offers elementary and intermediate courses in the following languages: Ancient Greek, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Modern Greek, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. Students can obtain a BA degree in French, German, & Spanish and a BIS degree in Chinese, Italian, Latin, and Japanese.

 

 

How to Apply to the Undergraduate Programs

Admissions to the undergraduate program are handled by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. While your acceptance to the program is not instantaneous, we would like you to know the basic steps involved.

Apply for Admission

If you are want to apply to the undergraduate program, your first stop will be the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. There you will be able to find application information tailored to your specific admissions need from high school, transfer or even GSU62. When you fill out your application, be sure to indicate what your program of interest is. This will declare your major to the university.

Get Accepted

Nobody likes to wait, but unfortunately this is your next step. Your application, along with thousands of others, is being personally reviewed by the university’s admissions councilors. You will eventually be notified regarding your acceptance, but you can always check your application’s status online.

Meet Your Advisor at Incept

One of the first things you should do once your accepted is sign up for the university’s new student orientation program, INCEPT. While you’re at INCEPT, make that you connect with your advisor to discuss your career goals and major.
